Choi B, Sung HG, Nam JH, Shin JY. (2019). Zolpidem and suicide death in South Korea: a population-based case-control study. Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior. doi:10.1111/sltb.12548

The authors investigated whether zolpidem use is associated with suicide death in adults. They conducted a case-control study using the National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort (NHIS-NSC) database and found a significant and positive association between zolpidem use and suicide. Based on their findings, they recommended that zolpidem should be prescribed cautiously and with a due caution of increased suicide risk.
